Things I Learned This Week: 12/2/06

Because I want to spare you from experiencing some of the things I endured over the last few days, I post “Things I Learned This Week” each Saturday. It’s educational, sometimes insightful and always pathetic. I hope that at least one item on this list will make your upcoming week much easier. So here are the “Things I Learned This Week” for the week of 11/26/06-12/2/06.

! I learned that I should not wear shorts to work when I have to work Sunday in the office by myself and I’m not sure whether or not they have turned off the air conditioning. They hadn’t…

! I learned that I should probably watch what I post after my boss made a joke about role-playing and me blogging about it during a meeting with the staff to discuss office courtesy and respect.

! I learned that I could only go three consecutive nights eating turkey sandwiches. By the fourth night, I should have been considered an endangerment to myself and others.

! I learned that going for my morning walk in shorts when it’s 42 degrees out and the wind is howling makes for a very, very long two miles.

! I learned not to over stuff the recycling garbage can on a windy night. When I got home, I had to pick up recycling trash from my front yard for 30 minutes.

! I learned that no matter how much it helps them enjoy the wonder and merriment of the holiday season, I should never, ever let my young daughters hang a heavy blown glass ornament on the tree.

And lastly,

! I learned that I should never show my daughters where the buttons are on all the newer lighted and musical Christmas tree ornaments…

Well, I must admit, I look forward to your Things I Learned This week posts. You're a hoot.

I just learned not to walk on an icy sidewalk with ordinary shoes while carrying two very heavy shopping bags. Oops. The only thing that was injured was my dignity.

Josie: Thank you, that's very kind. I've learned (and trust me here) that injuries to our dignity take the longest to heal ;-)

You can only eat so much turkey, and we still have a ton of it left.

odat: I'll try gull if you do and since Lucy and Ethel want thse driveable cars for kids for Christmas, I hope my boss is reading the part about the raise!!

mist1: I'm a short guy, so even if I were wearing short, shorts, they'd be close to me knees ;-)

amy: thanks for stopping by. Nuggests of wisdom, huh? Please feel free to visit and comment every day!! ;-)

Thinker: I guess you could freeze it...or give it to the dogs...or sea gulls!! I hear they'll eat anything!

I love turkey. I could eat a quarter of a size 5 turkey, over several days and still be sorry when it's all finished.

Through your blog I've learned something about you and also a bit about your culture :D

Greetings from Singapore :P

Shionge: Please, please don't base part of your understanding about American culture on what I write. I'd hate for you to have an incorrect understanding of us. Unlike me, most Americans are smart, wise and clever. Thanks for stopping by!!

Hiya Michael :D - Don't worry you won't be misunderstood for sure....I have lots of friends in America and was fortunate to be in many states last year.

Yes you are right, most Americans are smarkt, wise and clever :)

uh...Michael? I googled you after I lost your address after my email acct was cancelled last winter. You've clearly been busy. If you have my old email address, try the same name at gmail.com. I'd love to catch up.
