Elvis is still the king

As if we needed further proof of the enduring legacy of Elvis Presley (if you can believe that), Graceland has become a destination for visiting dignitaries.

To wrap up a visit with Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, President Bush is taking him to Graceland today. The tour is supposedly being led by Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley. President Bush is also giving Koizumi, a fan of Elvis, a juke box containing Elvis' hits!

Say what you want about the President's handling of foreign and domestic affairs, but he's obviously got good taste!!

The freeway system turns 50 today!!

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to...oh never mind!
Our freeways turn 50 today. I suppose back in the day the birth of the national highway system completely revolutionized life. Today it's a means to get to work, which is 25 minutes away as the crow flies, in no less than 2 hours.
As someone whose job deals with freeways and freeway congestion, I'm not giving a gift and didn't send a card...but then again, it did make "CHIPS" possible.

Not that I want you to immediately leave this blog, but in lieu of writing anything that requires thought today, I've added a couple of websites to my links section. Feel free to check them out. I'll add more as I come across anything of interest.

And So It Begins...

Well, here we go, the very first post of what I'm sure will be at least 20. I've never blogged before but since I like to write, I can't think of a better place to do it. This grand waste of bandwith will be used to post my attempt at humorous musings on life, society, the news, sports and anything else that catches my attention. Every time I spell check the text, my browser crashes, so just look the other way if you spot a typo!!

Initially I'm sure I'll post daily but by November it'll most likely be a bi-annual event. Thanks for visiting and be sure to check back often!

(Oh yeah, I'm the one next to Sinatra...isn't PhotoShop great?)
