Eye Am Taking A Day Off
After 17 years of wearing glasses I became a free man tonight. I finally, finally, finally got up the guts to get contacts!!!
Because the nurse was nice enough to help me practice taking them in and out for almost an hour, my eyes are now as red as raw uncooked beef. They also hurt quite a lot. I think I am now starting to get the hang of taking them in and out since I can do it without shrieking like I am in a horror movie. The nice nurse at the optometrist said they would assist with extractions only if it was an emergency. I am hoping she keeps her word.
So, long story short, there will be no 'real' post tonight. I am too busy alternating between doing the happy dance and whining like a baby because my eyes hurt so much after butchering them while trying to get the contacts out. Plus for some reason I am now craving beef.
See you all tomorrow and sorry if I don't get a lot of commenting in over the next day or so. Eye promise I will get back to reading, lurking and commenting just as soon as eye can.

You'll get used to them in no time. I wore them for almost two decades until I needed the bifocal ones and they were not fun. For me, anyway.
Come back and lurk soon. ;-)
eye can't remember the last time you commented on my blog :o( so no harm, no foul, eye won't miss you that much!
I'll never ever have the guts to poke around in my eyes so thank goodness I've (almost) perfect eyesight!
You do get used to them. Mike and I have both worn contacts for over 15 years. I can put them in and take them out in a sandstorm. Really. Funny timing - we both have appointments tonight for a LASIK consult because I'm so sick of contacts. LOL
Eye on the other hand do miss you, unlike Terri up there. ;-)
And I miss the good old days when we had those fun Q&A Tuesdays...
Congrats on the glassless journey!
Hope you're doing better real soon!
(Not stop whining!!)
Peace
Contacts RULE. You will LOVE THEM.
I have been wearing glasses since I was 7. I love my contacts, you don't even realize how much you miss seeing looking through glasses. The only problem for me is that I also have to wear reading glasses and my contacts.
At least I bought the Tina Fey frames.
I wear day and nights and they are wonderful. It's amazing to wake up and be able to see!! (Happy dance in progress)
You'll love them. I've gone back and forth but really like these.
Plus all those cool sunglasses? They are yours now (Costco has the best selection).
Good luck adjusting to the contacts. I tried them before, and just never got the hang of putting them in.
Congrats on the contacts. The older you are when you get them, the harder to adapt. I got mine when I was 12, so it's like second nature to me. Mr. ARM, however, got some last year and can't wear them. Sucky.
30 Rock premiers tonight!
did you get colored ones?
Hope you don't take your eye out! Good luck and I'll see you when I'm back from vacation on the 16th!
I really need to go back to contacts one of these days. I won't tell you my first contact horror story of it lodging behind my eyeball. That would just be soooo mean. ROFL
I wore contacts for 10 years!! Then my eyes were tired and could no longer wear them. Then I got Lasik eye surgery, and now they are happy and focused. I knew you wanted to know the history of my eyes.
Similar eye history to Erica AP. I can add this advice - once you have removed one contact lens, on no account forget and try to remove it again.
i've never gotten then contacts thing - i like my glasses. Used to wear contacst when I have to, like my karate lessons, or when I'm going to amusment parks and wanna see something.. ;)
Wow, you can't even get away from this burned meat/BBQ thing - Is the red beef looking thing an eye-round roast?
Congratulations on the big change to contacts! Next thing you know, you will have one of those portable phone things that every has. Ahh the future is amazing. Seriously though, I have glasses for reading (because yes, I'm 76 years old, thank you for asking) and I'm pretty sure if I get to the point for needing them all the time, I will never be brave enough to switch to contacts. Because putting my finger in my eye is just not something I can do without screaming. Everytime. Trust me. I've tried this, much to the delight of friends and family.
Doesn't it feel like you've got something in your eye? Because you technically do ... is it not annoying? I've never had contacts but I've always wondered if you feel them on your eyeball.
Are the twins watching daddy as he sticks his fingers in his eyes and then starts crying? This could be a good learning example for them.
Perhaps trying to put anything besides your elbow in your ear should be lesson number two!
All that eye poking makes me cringe. 8-\
I wanted to let you know I finally posted the result of my TT13 Q's about Favorites from a couple weeks ago. :-)
