The Best Holiday Ever! Really, I Mean Ever!
I’ll admit it. I thought that NASCAR Day 2 Fridays ago was the best thing ever. Well, turns out I was very, very wrong. Today, (man I’m so excited – are you ready for this) is National Leave The Office Early Day! Now do I really need to write any more than that? In fact, doing so may impair my ability to leave the office early today.
Admittedly, I found out about this holiday a little late, but my coworkers all seemed to know what today is, or was, since they’ve all left. With the exception of the admin staff, I’m the only one not celebrating the big holiday...yet. I hope that unlike me everyone reads this soon enough to be able to leave early today. I would hate for anyone to have to wait another year for this holiday, especially since Monday is Get Into The Office Early Day.
Ok, I made that up, but given a few more hours, I’m sure I can make someone think that’s what Monday really is. In fact, I’ll probably start calling my coworkers to tell them about my fake Monday holiday shortly. Of course, I won’t tell them it’s a holiday. I’ll just tell them that Boss Hogg asked me to have everyone come in early, except for me of course because I stayed later than everyone else did today. You know, sacrificing myself for the good of the team and all of that.
Now I could waste time and ponder how everyone will spend the extra time they’ll have by leaving early. I could review the proper way to observe the holiday and what is considered an appropriate time to vacate the office, but that would take time. The more time I take, the later I would be able to leave the office early. So, I am leaving the office! And how will I celebrate the rest of National Leave The Office Early Day?
Why, the only way I know how…IV’s, anesthesia and a couple 100 volts of electricity running through my chest. I got so excited about today that my heart skipped a beat, and another one, and one after that, and that, oh, and that one too…
Happy National Leave The Office Early Day. Now get the heck out of here!!

Happy National Leave The Office Early Day. Unfortunately I worked 20 minutes over, but next year I'm going to make quite a day of it
Had I known that was today, I would have left at 2 instead of 2:30. Crud.
Crap. I thought today was Saturday and I didn't go in at all.
Captain: I'll try and give you more warning next year. Sorry about that.
My: I'll remind you next year, too.
Mist1: What's wrong with that? 2 3-day weekends in a row sounds pretty darn good.
I smell bullshit. Is this really a holiday? I have NEVER heard of this EVER.
I want to believe you, I really do but...
Hmmm....
Kat: Just Google 'National Leave Work Early Day.' I have my special sources ;-)
You can believe me.
Oh hell, and to think they tried me to come in early.
You really need to email us when you learn of such IMPORTANT holidays. I could've been gone hours ago!
I Googled it and everything - boss man still says no go. :(
Oh well, next year if you warn us I will take precaussions (and maybe even learn how to spell!)
Damn....I missed the whole thing!
I guess it pays to read blogs early! :-(
Peace
I'm like Corky and didn't get the message in time AND worked an extra 30 minutes. darn!
There's just a "day" for everything these days! This sounds like a perfectly good one to me!! I found you from a comment your left on Frigga's blog---very glad I clicked over. I've been reading your posts and I just love your writing style! A riot!!! You definitely get a bookmark from me!!!
Happy Holidays! :)
Jessica The Rock Chick

Why was I never told?
Silver: Don't let 'em fool ya!
Cece: I promise I will from now on.
Frigga: I Googled it too. Fortunately my boss was in a conference in Reno!
Odat: That's ok. Didn't you just have a whole week off? ;-)
Terri: Make sure you take the comp time for it next week.
The Rock Chick: Thanks, happy holidays to you too and please come back anytime ;-)
Andreanna: Oh believe me, my jealous rage has definitely commenced!
;-)
Hearts: Don't worry, I forgot to tell a lot of people. I'll make it up to you next year!
If you work at home (as I do now) there is not much fun in leaving work early.
Unless you want to leave home, I guess. But I don't.
Patti: I used worked at home for almost 5 years and leaving early for me was going and sitting on the couch ;-)
yep, or lying down on the floor with the cat
